History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT OF IRRIGATION OF VEGETABLE AND GOURD CROPS IN VARIOUS SOIL-CLIMATE ZONES OF RUSSIA A.F. Razin, A.M. Menshikh, R.A. Meshcheryakova Irrigation is one of the decisive factors in increasing the productivity of vegetable crops. The research tasks at the institute and at the experimental stations included the study, improvement and development of optimal irrigation methods and irrigation regimes taking into account the biological characteristics of the types and varieties of crops, quantity, quality and purpose of products (fresh consumption, storage, processing), which save irrigation water, mineral fertilizers and environmental protection, including soil. Research on the irrigation of vegetable crops began in 1931 and continues to this day at the institute itself, at the stations - it has practically been curtailed into the dashing 90s of the last century. Irrigation regimes differentiated by zones, crops, and interphase periods of vegetation were developed, allowing to maximize the potential of new varieties and hybrids of vegetable crops and resource-saving cultivation technologies, to obtain high yields, high-quality products suitable for long-term storage and save up to 30% of irrigation water. At present, a comparative study of the water regime of new varieties and hybrids on different backgrounds of fertilizers on alluvial meadow soils of the non-chernozem zone of the Russian Federation, including using automation and remote control for drip irrigation and irrigation irrigation. The novelty and priority of scientific developments are protected by 11 copyright certificates of the USSR and RF patents for inventions.
