Alekseeva The article is devoted to the research history of VNIIO and its experimental stations in the fi eld of protection of vegetable crops from diseases and pests. Information is presented about the work of the scientific staff and personalities who have made a signifi cant contribution to the study of harmful organisms as well as developing plant protection measures. The modern system of plant protection is discussed. The greenhouses technological regulations were developed for new-generation of microbial control preparations (based on Trichoderma, Bacillus and Pseudomonas strains) as well as protective and stimulating growth regulators (Ecogel, Lyurastim, Zircon, Agrostimul, Biodux and etc.). Antibacterial preparations Phytolavin and Phytoplasmin and fungicide Polar against powdery mildew of cucumber were studied. In Moscow region the fungicides and insecticides applied on open-ground cultivated carrots, cabbages, beets, onions and tomatoes were especially considered. It was also paid much attention to diseases of green and spicy-flavored crops.
