Savelova The article presents a brief historical and historiographic overview of the main concepts and directions of gender studies in the world and in Russia. The emergence of the "women’s question", its three main phenomena: emancipation, suffrageism, feminism are considered. The purpose of the article, along with a summary of general points in the study of gender asymmetry, is to state gender inequality in science in general and in the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences / RAS in particular. The statistics on scientifi c personnel and the share of women in the field of national science are presented. The article actualizes the study of the history of women in science, which in the Siberian branch itself is at the initial stage of its formation.
