History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back HEIRS OF THE "WILD" UNIVERSITY E.B. Golubev 90 years ago in Moscow, the activities of a unique technical institute, which was created in the fall of 1928 on the initiative of students, were reformed. This “wild” university has successfully worked for two academic years without professors and teachers thanks to the use of the method of collective mutual learning. And then the technical institute was transformed into a state one. A number of reorganizations followed. The direct "heir" of that "wild" university exists today. This is the Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics of the Higher School of Economics. The offi cial website of the institute reports: «MIEM NRU HSE is an institute with a 56-year history...». And according to archival data, newspaper and magazine sources 1920–1990 it has been established that MIEM NRU HSE is an institute with a 92-year history! It was possible to fi ll in the "blank spots" and trace all ten stages of the transformation of this university from 1928 to 2020 – from OGVTO to MIEM NRU HSE today.
