SCIENTOMETRIC ANALYSES OF CANDIDATES NOMINATIONS FOR NOBEL PRIZES. 4. NOMINEES AND NOMINATORS FOR THE NOBEL PRIZE IN CHEMISTRY (1911–1950) |
V.M. Tyutyunnik
All nominations for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 1911–1950 were examined and analyzed on the basis of declassified documents of the Nobel Committee in Chemistry in Stockholm. It is shown that for the first 50 years, representatives of 21 countries were nominated in chemistry. A total of 322 scientists were nominated 1235 times in chemistry (about four nominations per scientist on average). There are 51 scientists from 8 countries received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. The number of nominators in chemistry for the first 50 years was 1875 scientists. There are no patterns in the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry: there is no correlation between the number of nominations and the awarding of prizes for the first 50 years.
