Kulagina The Laboratory of Regional Geology and Geophysics was founded at the Institute of Geology in 1994 under the leadership of the Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of the RAS V.N. Puchkov, and brought together researchers who previously worked at the institute in different groups. Currently – it is the Laboratory of Geotectonics and Regional Geology. It conducts research in the field of geodynamics and geotectonics, geology and stratigraphy of the Precambrian and Upper Paleozoic, lithological-facies and formational analyzes. Researchers are involved in the development of two State Programs – on geodynamics and stratigraphy. This article provides a brief history of the research of laboratories: structural geology, geotectonics and geology of the Precambrian, which were attached to the Laboratory of Regional Geology and Geophysics in 2006, shows the main directions of research and achievements of the last decade, their importance for world science.
