LABORATORY OF PALEOVOLCANOLOGY AND METALLOGENY: MAIN RESEARCH AREAS AND RESEARCH RESULTS |

The directions and the most important research results of the laboratory of paleovolcanoology and metallogeny of the IG UFRC RAS are considered. Main research directions of the laboratory: 1) petrological and geochemical study of volcanic complexes of the Southern Urals, paleovolcanic and geodynamic reconstructions; 2) structural studies of gold-mining areas of the Southern Urals; 3) development of geological and genetic models of gold, volcanogenic massive sulfi de and porphyry deposits of the Southern Urals; 4) metallogenic studies of the Southern Urals and Kazakhstan; 5) geoecological studies. The laboratory staff created for the first time a paleovolcanic map of the Southern Urals at a scale of 1:500000, on the basis of which the main volcanogenic complexes of Paleozoic age were characterized. A geodynamic model of the paleovolcanic belts of the Southern Urals has been developed. Geochemical and metallogenic zoning of paleovolcanic belts of the Magnitogorsk megazone was studied. On petrological-geochemical and geodynamic based typing VMS-bearing complexes megazone. Correlations between the composition of ores, reserves of copper and zinc in the deposits of ore regions and the geochemical characteristics of basalts in these areas have been established. Petrological and geochemical criteria for the VMS-bearing content of volcanogenic formations have been developed. Regional and local patterns of placement of gold mineralization in the collision structures of the paleoceanic sector of the Southern Urals were studied. Geological and genetic models of VMS and orogenic gold deposits of the Southern Urals have been developed. Conditions for the formation of porphyry family deposits in the Main Ural Fault zone are studied. A comparative metallogenic analysis of the Southern Urals and Central Kazakhstan was performed on a geodynamic basis. The Uchaly geotechnical system was studied.
