History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back HISTORY OF THE STUDY OF SEDIMENTARY BASINS OF THE FAR EAST AT THE INSTITUTE OF TECTONICS AND GEOPHYSICS E.P. Razvozzhaeva The history of the study of the sedimentary basins of the Far East has been carried out at the Institute of Tectonics and Geophysics. It is conditionally divided into two stages: historical (1971–1999, and present-day-(2000–2021). The first stage resulted in publication of more than a dozen monographs devoted to the study of sedimentary formations of continental and marine basins; tectonic maps of oil and gas-bearing areas; atlases of structural and lithological maps, and types of coals of the Amur region. The second stage of studying has culminated in the publication of series of monographs (6 volumes) on the sedimentary basins of East Asia. At present, the final volume is being prepared. Since 2015, the laboratory has developed a second direction related to the study of redox redox conditions for the formation of magmatic systems. The method of defi nition of granitoids of the ilmenite and magnetite series is worked out. Maps of the zoning of the redox background are constructed and the mechanism of its formation is proposed.
