Gilmanova At all stages of geological and geophysical research, maps have been and remain important. Methods for collecting, storing and analyzing the spatial information obtained at the institute have changed along with the development of computer technology and software products, going through stages from paper media to creating maps and databases in geographic information systems (GIS). An overview of the main activities of the GIS group of the ITiG FEB RAS is made, examples of the use of GIS for solving specific problems are given.
