COMPUTER GRAPHICS BY MEANS OF MODULAR DESIGN AS ARTISTIC AND DESIGN ACTIVITY
T.V. Belaya

The article considers and analyzes the scientific direction of computer graphics as an artistic and design activity by means of modular design. Today working with computer graphics is one of the most common areas of using a personal computer. Powerful processors and modern programs have made human communication with an electronic computer so simple that almost any user can draw and even design with the help of special editors. Modular design is organically connected with computer graphics, its technologies and visual means. Modern art design is unthinkable without these technologies. The purpose of the research is a scientific and methodological justifi cation of modular design by means of computer graphics as a system for improving the effectiveness of the formation of high-quality constructive and design-modular thinking, a method of practical influence on the visual space of the subject-spatial environment.
The materials for writing the work were:
– the book "Modular grids" by Allen Hurlbert, in which the modular grid is not unconditionally proclaimed as the main method of graphic design, but the book describes in detail that modular design and the grid actively influence the design process, shows the effectiveness of the use of the grid and the diversity of its forms, analyzes the works of several major graphic designers, whose creativity refl ects a wide range of modern design;
– scientifi c articles by P.I. Balabanov, L.T. Sauerwein, A.A. Beremilova, G.I. Petushkova, S.V. Ostrikova, L.A. Tkachenko, A.V. Tkachenko, G.Yu. Mkhitaryan, G.F. Privalova, A.O. Filatov, which consider and give useful conclusions about the design, methods of creating modular objects, detailed information on the terminology of information graphics and design, on the artistic image as the basis of design and artistic activity in the fi eld of decorative and applied art of publication, on the effectiveness of perception of print advertising;
– an electronic resource that describes in detail the visual system of the human body, as well as uses terminology from the electronic resource of the explanatory dictionary of the Russian language;
– many years of practice working with computer graphics by means of modular design.
The following research methods have been used:
– contextual analysis of the literature on the use of modular grids, design methods, the psychology of creativity, computer graphics, the effectiveness of project perception;
– analysis of completed projects by means of modular design;
– observation of the cognitive, reproductive and creative activities of designers.
The data obtained within the framework of the presented scientific research shows us the beneficial effect of using the modular principle in preparing creative projects by means of computer graphics. The process of design with the use of computer technologies is easy to use and edit, and the use of modular design brings creative projects
to a higher level. The conclusions of this scientfic study promote some hints on the use of a modular system for organizing the workspace when creating computer graphics projects, which has a positive effect on complex and ambiguous production situations, and helps to solve the problems of developing the creative component. Artistic and design activities based on modular design contribute to the formation of high-quality constructive and design-modular thinking. This has the practical influence on the visual space of the subject-spatial environment and makes it possible to find new ideas. Using the modular principle of visual and graphic information building gives integrity to the entire art project and the work on its creation is facilitated efficiently and with minimal time.
Keywords: computer graphics, art and design activities, modular grid, subject-spatial environment.
