COMPARATIVE HISTORY OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE METHOD OF RADIOELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY

In the middle of the 20th century, dynamic bioradiotelemetry (a scientifi c field for studying the functioning of a free moving biological object in real time) was intensively developed. During the late 1940s–1970s. the technology and methodology of scientific and practical study of the state of the cardiovascular system were formed, based on remote fixation of an electrocardiosignal transmitted by radio – radioelectrocardiography. It was a key for new level of clinical studies. The scientific and technical development of this method proceeded in parallel in the USSR, the USA, and some European and Asian countries. Such evolutionary process is divide into two periods: 1. Late 1940s–early 1960s – predominantly development and design for creation of a technology for transmitting an electrocardiosignal by radio. 2. 1960s–1970s – the biotelemetric systems created at the previous stage have become tools for clinical scientific researches. When comparing topics and results of scientific research, the following is noted. In the USSR, there was a balance between the scientific tasks of physiology, occupational medicine and clinical cardiology. While in the USA the main attention was paid only to clinical cardiology. European and Asian countries followed in the wake of scientific leaders, generally repeating the leading topics. The common scientific result was the proof of the non-alternativeness of telemetric fixation of the electrocardiogram for detecting changes that occur exclusively in the process of physical activity. The result of scientific and technological evolution has become a number of diagnostic devices for clinical routine and fundamentally new scientific knowledge in the field of pathological physiology and diagnostics.
