History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back THE REVIVAL OF SOVIET GENETICS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 1960s S.V. Shalimov The paper is devoted to the revival of Soviet genetics after Lysenko’s downfall. By focusing on the wide range of new archival sources, the author researches the period of the middle of the 1960s – the first years after “Lysenkoism”. The paper analyzes well-known decree of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences dated 25 of December of 1964 and illustrates the discussions in the leadership of the Academy of Sciences about situation in genetics. In those years new research institutes, scientifi c journals and scientific societies in the field of genetics were founded. The author came to the conclusion about the great contribution of these achievements for the following development of Soviet genetics. Keywords: genetics, history of genetics, “Lysenkoism”, T.
