THE EARLY PERIOD OF THE CREATION OF ELECTRIC LIGHTING OF NEVSKY PROSPEKT V.A. Petrushchenkov The article is devoted to the early period of the history of the creation of the first central power plant for lighting Nevsky Prospekt, the events that took place in the period from 1879 to 1882. This work was started by the partnership “P.N. Yablochkov-inventor and Co.". In connection with the unsuccessful attempt of P.N. Yablochkov to create JSC “Russian Society of Electricity”, organizational and technical activities had to be continued by the partnership “Elektrotechnik” under the lead-ership of V.N. Chikolev. Tactical and strategic tasks, the types of lighting devices, the location of the central power plant, and the main actors changed within a short time. The final decisions in the development of the topic have always been left to the city authorities of the capital. The bankruptcy of “Elektrotechnik” led to the fact that the obligations to the city for lighting Nevsky Prospekt with electricity were transferred to the Trading House “Siemens and Galske”.
