Murenko The article considers the social and scientific and organizational experience of the formation of the Novosibirsk branch of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute. NOT. Zhukovsky (TsAGI) in the conditions of the Great Patriotic War. It is concluded that the process of institutionalization of the Novosibirsk branch of TsAGI into an independent scientifi c structure was due to the internal and external mobilization of researchers, the interest of the regional leadership in increasing the scientific and technical potential of the region, as well as the purposeful actions of the State Defense Committee and the Commissariat of Aviation Industry of the USSR, aimed at preservation in wartime conditions of the scientifi c center for aviation in Siberia.
