History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Thermal Power Engineering of the Peter the Great Polytechnic Institute in the Early Period Petrushchenkov V.A. 2024 marks the 125th anniversary of the founding of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute. The article is devoted to the history of the creation and operation of electrical and thermal supply systems for the buildings of the Institute in the fi rst 10 years of its operation. The description of the main equipment of the electric station, gas plant, heating and ventilation systems of buildings is given. The main types of low- and high-pressure steam boilers, steam engines of various design designs, including a condensing steam turbine operating at the station, are considered. Special attention is paid to the equipment of experimental laboratories. It is shown that the equipment used at the power plant, gas plant, experimental laboratories was diverse, modern, effi cient and allowed students to successfully prepare for work in a variety of industries.
