In the history of the domestic aircraft industry, the name of designer I.V. Chetverikova occupies a special place. Leading aviation designer of the Soviet
Union, candidate of technical sciences, teacher Igor Vyacheslavovich Chetverikov made a signifi cant contribution to the development of Soviet naval aviation.
Thanks to his work, some of the fi rst domestic seaplanes were designed and built, such as the folding aircraft for the SPL submarine, which set several world
records in 1937, the Arctic reconnaissance aircraft ARK-3, the maritime long-range reconnaissance aircraft MRD-6 (Che- 2), transport amphibian TA, etc.
In the article, the authors consider the history of the design activities of I.V. Chetverikov, his main projects, show the contribution of the aircraft designer to
the development of domestic aircraft manufacturing.
The article is based on the principles of historicism, scientifi c objectivity, historical-comparative and narrative methods are used.
