The article describes the history of Type Foundry No. 1. In 1854, Osip Ivanovich Leman opened a foundry enterprise in St. Petersburg. His son I.I. Leman continued his father’s work and became a successful entrepreneur. The article presents the introduction of a number of improvements in the type casting process, increasing the capacity of the enterprise through the purchase of new and improved equipment. The article describes the further history of the plant in the second half of the twentieth century. until the end of activities in the 1990s.
