History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back The History of the Creation of the Book “Geology and Mineral Resources of the Komi Assr” under the Leadership of A.A. Chernov A.G. Osedakh The article reconstructs the process of the creation a monograph about the geological study of the Komi ASSR under the leadership of Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Alexander Aleksandrovich Chernov at the Komi Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences on the basis of documents of the Scientifi c Archive of the Federal Research Centre “Komi Science Centre of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences”. It was determined that from 1949 to 1951 as part of the series of books “Productive forces of the Komi ASSR”, employees of the geology department of the academic institution prepared one of the fi rst fundamental works in the European North of the USSR. They summarized the results of geological research up to the 1950s and outlined further plans for the development of the region’s natural resources. Keywords: A.A.
