History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Analysis of Domestic Developments of Reusable Launch Vehicle Stages Lezhin D.S., Nagurnyy I.O., Chugunkov E.V. This paper presents a review of Soviet and Russian developments and the current state of affairs. The issue of reuse of stages or the whole launch vehicle (LV) was relevant in the early years of space rocket technology (SRT) development. The reuse of boosters is one of the few ways to reduce the cost of launching payloads and the cost of operating RCT products in general. The main issue in the development of reusable boosters is the choice of the principle landing scheme. Many design bureaus and research institutes around the world have conducted studies and tests of various landing systems.
