The article is devoted to the life and work of Dmitry Miltiadovich Marko, the founder of the Perm school of organic chemists. The article tells about the work of D.M. Marko in the universities of Kazan, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, about his 25 years of work within the walls of Perm State University, about the fi rst studies of the Verkhne-Chusovskaya oil by the scientist, work during the Great Patriotic War on the fulfillment of orders of the defense industry, it is said what role in the life of D.M.
