History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Scientific Research of Mineral Resources of the European North-East of the RSFSR-USSR in 1917–1930: Discussions, Expeditions, Results Filippova T.P. The article is devoted to the study of mineral resources of the European North-East of the RSFSR-USSR in 1917–1930, when, in the context of the economic crisis, the Soviet government initiated a large-scale process of searching for mineral raw materials in the peripheral regions of the country. Based on a wide range of sources, various views of members of the scientific community on the prospects for studying this territory are analyzed, key results of research expeditions aimed at exploring the territory of the Pechora River basin are shown. During this period, scientists obtained information about the presence of vast reserves of oil, coal, which determined the tasks of further development and the paths of industrial development of the region.
