Development of Mechanical Production in Georgia
in the Second Half of the 19th and early 20th Centuries |
Ismailova A.M.
The article is devoted to one of the branches of the machine-building industry in Georgia – mechanical production. In some branches of mechanical
production, the capitalist factory took a dominant position.
This was primarily due to the increased use of steam engines in the production process. Mechanical production was used to repair factory and technical
equipment, including drilling tools, steam boilers, pumps, and special mechanisms, as well as various machine parts.
The article concludes that mechanical production in Georgia improved during the study period, with an increase in the number of workers and improved
labor productivity. However, it was not yet at the same level of development as in the central provinces of the Russian Empire.
Keywords: Russian Empire, South Caucasus, Georgia, mechanical production, technical equipment, machinery, mechanical products, pumps, boilers,
metalworking and woodworking machines, turbines, and water engines.
