History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Soviet Period: History of its Formation and Development Kupershtokh N.A. The article presents the results of a study of the history of academic institutions of the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences / Russian Academy of Sciences in the second half of the 20th century. During the Soviet period, the Computing Center, the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Biophysics, the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, and the Institute of Forestry were established and operated effectively in Krasnoyarsk. Five academic institutes in Krasnoyarsk achieved world-class results in physics and biophysics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, and environmental management. The exceptional role of Academician L.V. Kirensky as the organizer of the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences and scientific and educational institutions is emphasized. The role of leaders of scientific schools in obtaining fundamental results in certain fields of knowledge is revealed.
