Petrushchenkov V.A.
The Emperor Alexander I Institute of Railway Engineers was one of the first to use cogeneration and pump circulation for heating systems
in a number of its buildings. This fact prompted us to study the history of the institute's energy development. This article provides an overview
of the institute's energy history, starting with the use of steam engines to supply water to the institute's buildings in 1816 and ending with the
installation of steam turbines in the machine laboratory in 1913.
Keywords: steam engines, steam turbines, cogeneration, machine laboratory, heating, ventilation, pumping circulation.
