Leonhard Euler has played. The results received by him in this area, have caused interest in many mathematicians of that time and were a basis for the further researches. In the article is shown the development of ideas of Euler in works of Gaspard Monge and Carl Friedrich Gauss which activity, as is known, rendered determining influence on all course of formation of differential geometry.
