History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back Some historical aspects of the exploration and development of mineral water before the end of XIX century Ya.G. Avdeev, N.I. Savitkin The history of the development and research of mineral water springs in Europe and Russia till the end of the 19th century is considered here. It is shown that such springs were widely used for mass treatment and rest of the population, for getting medical substances (bottled mineral water, Carlsbad and Glauber’s salt), food additives (table salt) and raw material for different production (sulphur, Glauber’s salt). The most famous and greatest contemporary scientists were engaged in the research of mineral water springs.
