History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back LPI Center for Research at Low Temperatures, in Strong Magnetic Fields, and at High Pressures V.M. Pudalov Сenter for studies of high-temperature superconductors and strongly correlated electron systems (Open Access Center) was organized in Lebedev Physical Institute (LPI) in 2004. Center is a unique experimental base giving possibilities to make investigations at low temperatures (30?mК), in strong magnetic fields (up to 15?T) and at high pressures (up to 3?GPa) Center was founded оn the base of the Laboratory of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems (LSCES) – one of the most advanced experimental divisions of (LPI). Researchers of LSCES study electronic properties of semiconducting / superconducting materials (including organic materials) in strong magnetic fields, at low temperatures, and at high pressures. Open Access Center is a research complex equipped with technological, measuring, and analytic facilities which are serving about 30 research organizations upon requests. Currently, a novel, national scale research facility is emerging on the basis of several LPI divisions, leaded by LSCES, in order to focus condensed matter studies on prospective high temperature superconductors and nanostructures.
