History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back SIBERIAN INSTITUTE OF PLANT PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY SB RAS Establishment and major results of early studies R.K. Salyaev The article describes major stages of establishment and development of the Institute in the second half of the 20-th century.It sums up first scientific investigations related to development of East-Siberian region, foundation of new trends in cell and molecular biology, bio-engineering, new aspects of research of plant adaptation to stresses, studies of Lake Baikal nature preservation measures. The article presents results of studies and major achievements of the Institute in various scientific domains, as well as some significant methodological developments.There are presented data on long-term partners of the Institute – State University and other universities, foundation of base department and “Small School Academy” under the aegis of the Institute within the framework of activities aimed at professional training of young scientists.
