Timofeeva An article is devoted to some significant and most successful scientists who have much contributed in studying and development of the soil cover in the Russian Far East, Primorye and Priamurye generally, where basic plough-lands are concentrated. An accent is made on the historical period of 300-year duration, i.e. from the beginning of colonization (second half of the seventeenth century to the 60 s of the twentieth century).
