ULISS DINI
AND CONTINUITY CONCEPTION
|
G.I. Sinkevich
Uliss Dini (1845–1918) worked when analysis golden age was. He was a contemporary of Georg Cantor(1845–1918), who appreciated him highly. Dini`s researches were in different geometry, analysis foundations and Fourier series. Dini was giving a course of lectures on analysis for 50 years, using Dirichlet`, Abel`, Du Bois-Reymond`, Weierstrass` and Mittag-Leffler` results. As he get older he added the results of Cantor, Heine, Dedekind, Hankel and Schwarz. Often Dini introduced more general methods. So in continuity and uniform continuity conception he demonstrated Weierstrass` and Mittag-Leffler` results by Betti`s method, such as he enriched the theory of power and trigo-nometric series and complex variable theory. It was Dini who formulated the continuity definition by one-side limits and gave his own dis-continuity classification. Here we shall consider his contribution to continuity idea.
