History of Science and Engineering Annotation << Back «Shuhov’s Method» in Russian Oil History Sergeev S.V. The article is dedicated to the activities of famous domestic engineer Vladimir G. Shukhov in the oil industry. The basic idea of «Shuhov’s method» was to bring to not only technological perfection but also the economical advisability of the constructions. Shuhov’s inventions had profoundly affected to the whole complex of oil-related technological processes: its production, processing, transportation and storage. Theory and realization of pipeline building, calculation and construction of metal storage tanks, oil barges, nozzle for fuel oil combustion, airlift and well pumps, oil cracking in the tube furnace – all of these Shuhov’s innovations laid the foundation of modern country's oil industry.
