TEACHERS OF MATHEMATICS PROGYMNASIUM PETERHOF (1980–1900) |

The paper deals with the elements of the history of mathematical education in Russia on an example of the first Peterhof boys` preschools (1880–1900) and personalities of teachers of mathematics. The study of the history of mathematical education in Russia would not be complete without identifying the contribution to the development of mathematics and mathematical education teachers working in specifi c institutions. General history of the formation of secondary education in Peterhof revealed partly in the works of local ethnographers, but the issues of mathematics education and the personalities of the fi rst teachers of mathematics in historical-mathematical and regional literature are not disclosed. The article deals the fi rst scientifi c biographies of math teachers in Peterhof progymnasium named Emperor Alexander II, of famous mathematicians Ivan Lvovich Ptashitskiy and Georgiy Feodosevich Voronoy. As a result, of this study, new archival and other previously unpublished factual materials, almost unknown in historical and mathematical literature, introduced in a scientifi c revolution.
