Kozlov We describe the development of research in the fi eld of natural radio emissions in the very low frequency (VLF) range of the upper and lower atmosphere, dependence VLF radio emissions from variations in solar activity, propagation of VLF radio emissions in the waveguide «earth–ionosphere» and the use of signals VLF radio and electromagnetic radiation lightning for remote disturbances monitoring in the lower ionosphere, regional and global lightning activity, the manifestations of seismic processes in the VLF radio emission variations surface atmospheric electric fi eld in good conditions and disturbed weather, variations of cosmic rays in the atmosphere of thunderstorm electric fields.
