THEORY OF MECHANISMS AND MACHINES: YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW
V.V. Kuzlyakina, M.V. Nagaeva

The article provides brief information on the stages of development of the science «Theory of Mechanisms and Machines» (TMM), on the creation of the International Federation for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms (IFToMM), on the contribution of Russian and Soviet scientists to this science and, especially, to its computerization, about the difficulties of the transition period in the XXI century and the further development of computerization of this science, about the future of fundamental engineering science. There are many photographs of the participation of the authors in various conferences and symposia organized by the ITFoMM: Austria (2001), Romania (2005), China (2004, 2011), France (2007), Taiwan (2010), Vietnam (2011), and other conferences. Information about a new generalized structural module of the second class of the sixth type is also presented. Structural scheme of two types of hay press are shown: existing with groups of the second class of the first and second types and new with groups of the second class of the second and sixth types, as well as their visualization in the author’s system DINAMIC. Comparison of the mechanisms showed a simplification of the design and a reduction in dimensions. Applying the proposed module, you can create many original schemes of mechanisms of technological equipment for different purposes. The article also provides the most important main directions of development of TMM: modeling and mathematization in the science of mechanisms; multidimensionality of multimass systems; spatial mechanisms and manipulators; original mechanisms, as well as the creation of computer-mechanical complexes of laboratory equipment for teaching engineering disciplines, including those with remote access.
Keywords: modeling, mathematization, computer center, ITFoMM, kinematic scheme, generalized structural module, visualization of mechanism schem.
